Responsibilities and Duties
The Lead Teacher is responsible for maintaining the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center’s care. As well as ensuring that curriculum and classroom activities are properly delivered, and that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately.
Seedling Child Care Center – 2026
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the center’s vision and ensure compliance with all OCFS, CACFP, and applicable state and local regulations.
- Implement and oversee a high-quality educational program that follows the approved curriculum and supports positive child development.
- Maintain accurate student and program records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Foster positive communication and relationships with children, families, staff, regulatory agencies, community partners, and health consultants.
- Follow all health, safety, illness, emergency, and cleanliness standards to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of all child, family, staff, and program information.
- Collaborate effectively with staff to promote a positive, team-oriented workplace.
- Complete all required training, attend staff meetings, and remain current on applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct annual parent-teacher conferences and support partnerships with educational programs such as Ulster BOCES Early Childhood Education interns.
- Follow all Family of Woodstock policies and procedures while maintaining organized, accurate program documentation.
Qualifications
We’re looking for a caring, organized, and experienced early childhood professional who is passionate about providing high-quality care and education for young children.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; or
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (Preschool); or
Nine (9) college credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with an approved plan of study leading to a Preschool CDA, plus two (2) years of experience caring for children.
At least one (1) year of professional experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children (or two (2) years, as applicable above).
Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer and technology proficiency.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Reliable, insured transportation.
Ability to respond to occasional on-call needs during the second shift.
Successful completion of required background checks and health screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with budgeting and financial management.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Hours and Pay Rate
This is a part-time, 30-hours per week position based at Family of Woodstock’s new Seedling Child Care Center located at the Golden Hill Apartments in Kingston. The hours are M-F, 5:30 pm – 11:30 pm (evening shift).
The rate of pay for this position is $31,371.60 per year. The compensation package also includes partial agency-funded health, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation/holiday time, a retirement plan with matching option, and other benefits.
