Family Time is a bi-weekly radio show on Radio Kingston (1490 AM | 107.9 FM) conceptualized by Executive Director, Michael Berg. The show is live every other Tuesday from 6pm to 6:30pm and covers a variety of topics each week with guests from community agencies and Family’s program leadership.

Family Time Episode 75 – Radio Kingston
Michael Berg welcomed Penny Dombrowski and Jean Bobadilla from Family’s Child Care Connections team. Penny and Jean will be instrumental in opening the Seedling Child Care Center at Golden Hill. The center is slated to open in the spring and will welcome children from six months to five years old. They discussed the great need for child care in our area and the financial pressure parents feel when their income makes child care seem unaffordable.

Family Time Episode 74 – Radio Kingston
Homelessness affects so many children in our area. Michael invited Jenifer Restrepo Agudelo, the Kingston City School District’s McKinney-Vento liaison, to discuss the number of children considered homeless in the district and the impact it has on their scholastic work.

Family Time Episode 73 – Radio Kingston
Amy Leonard, Executive Director of Ulster Literacy, joined Michael to discuss the lack of literacy among children and adults throughout the region. They looked at many causes for this, including the impact of the Covid shutdown.

Family Time Episode 72 – Radio Kingston
Michael welcomed Kasia Donahue from Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. Their agency provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals and families. Last year, they handled more than 12,000 cases in seven counties.

Michael welcomed Stephanie Kearns, President and CEO of the United Way of Ulster County. They spoke about the partnership the two agencies have had over many years, the current issues facing our community, including the cut to SNAP benefits, and the role the United Way plays in the region.

Michael sits down with Johnathan Hornig, Director of the Well-Being Institute at the LGBTQ Center in Kingston, and they discuss the various wellness programs the Institute offers and the need he sees increasing throughout the community.

Michael Berg welcomed Karen Storch and Noah Rust from Family’s Domestic Violence Services team. They discussed issues survivors face when trying to regain their lives and how Family helps them…and their families.
