Narcan_kit-1Ulster County Legislator Carl Belfiglio is sponsoring a free community Narcan Training in cooperation with Dr. Raymond Harvey from the Institute for Family Health and Marie Shultis, Director of Awareness Inc., on Thursday, July 14 at 6:30 in the Esopus Town Hall.

Narcan (naloxone) is used for the emergency treatment of opioid overdose and has been credited with saving many lives when used by first responders.

“We want to give responsible people the tools to save the life of a loved one who is battling drug addiction,” said Belfiglio, a founding member of Ulster County’s Coalition Against Narcotics. He also represents Ulster County on the New York State Association of County’s (NYSAC) Public Health and Mental Health Committee. He also serves on the Legislature’s Public Health and Social Services Committee

Anyone interested in attending this free training can call Awareness, Inc. at 845-417-1484 or email ucawarenessprogram@gmail.com. A Narcan kit will be dispensed to each participant who attends the training.
“Heroin use is an epidemic,” Belfiglio said, “and I have no doubt that this training will save lives.”
