Overview
This position provides domestic violence counseling and case management to primarily Spanish speaking survivors and their children. Our ideal candidate is fluent in Spanish and English and has good communication skills. Candidate should have a working knowledge of the different types of abuse and the dynamics of domestic violence (i.e. the power and control wheel, and the cycles).
Responsibilities and Duties
- Educate clients about domestic violence, its cycles, and how it impacts individuals and families
- Support clients by providing a non-judgmental and non-directive space for clients to evaluate the safety of their current relationship(s)
- Help clients develop a safety plan for themselves and their families
- Inform clients about available domestic violence services, and legal protections for survivors (i.e. shelter, support groups, Orders of Protection, employment protections)
- Educate clients about available entitlements (e.g. TANF, SNAP, WIC) and assist them with accessing these services as needed
- Write clear and timely client notes (in electronic database) and participate in case conference weekly
- Maintain client records (intakes, releases, housing records if applicable)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of domestic violence and the cycles
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Highschool diploma/GED; BA preferred
- Clean/active driver’s license
- Able to pass both criminal record and CPS clearances
- 1-2 years prior experience working with survivors directly, or in the human service field
Hours and Pay Rate
This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week with full benefits including health insurance.
Pay rate: $18.13 per hour
