The stigma surrounding mental health challenges often prevents people from seeking help or even acknowledging that they need help. And if they do want help, they often don’t know where to turn. Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an 8 hour public education program which introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents ages 13-18.

YMHFA emphasizes the importance of early intervention and covers how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. YMHFA is designed to teach anyone 18 years or older including parents, family members, caregivers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers and other caring citizens, to learn how to help young people.

The training is being offered by Family of Woodstock for our community. Training will be held at the Old Dutch Church, 272 Wall St, Kingston, NY. To register, please call 679-2485.
