Dear Holiday Shoppers,

Do you want to spread some holiday cheer this year? Family has hundreds of children and adults who will appreciate your thinking about their needs this season. Children would like books and games, shoes and jackets. Adults will be happy to receive warm clothing or something nice to wear to work. You can choose to Adopt A Family or simply purchase what you wish to. You can choose to give in Woodstock or direct your giving to adolescents or survivors of family violence at one of our many programs. Want to make it super easy? Gift cards for food, gas or stores are always welcome!

In Woodstock, Family is partnering with the new Bank of Greene County to enable our recipients to choose their own gifts. Last year we had gifts for more than 60 Woodstock area families, including 255 children. For years our volunteers have struggled to fill bags with appropriate gifts for every age group and interest. The Bank has opened the empty space next door so that our volunteers may accompany parents in to “shop” for their children’s gifts this year. They are also receiving gift donations for Family inside the Bank in Woodstock and in Kingston. We are very excited to collaborate with the Bank of Greene County in this effort.

Families who wish to receive gifts must register in person at the Walk In Center at 16 Rock City Road or by phone or text at 845-679-2485 on or before December 13. They must be from towns served by the Woodstock Food Pantry: Woodstock, West Hurley, Shokan, Olive, Boiceville, Mt Tremper, Pine Hill and Shandaken. Details regarding gift pickup will be given when a family registers.

And although we do not put on the annual Christmas Day celebration at the Woodstock Community Center, we do lend a hand. If you would like to volunteer on Christmas Day or help them with food, contact Toni Weidenbacher directly at 845-679-7281.

Help keep that Thanksgiving Spirit going.
