The 2023 Bob Dylan Birthday Celebration will take place on Saturday, May 27 (Memorial Day Weekend) at 8 pm.
An annual event since 2008, the concert benefits the Family of Woodstock Hotline and John Herald Fund for Musicians and Artists in need. Hosted by Happy Traum, it features some of the best musicians in the Hudson Valley interpreting the songs of Bob Dylan in celebration of his birthday. In addition to Happy Traum, confirmed so far are: Cindy Cashdollar, Jim Weider, Arlen Roth, David Mansfield, Simi Stone, Connor Kennedy, Eugene Ruffolo, Adrien Reju, Don Byron and Chris Maxwell.
The amazing house band, Buffalo Stack, led by Andy Stack, includes Lee Falco and Brandon Morrison. Additional performers TBA.
Since 1970, FAMILY of Woodstock has been an anchor for area residents – a place where people are respectful and caring, and where the search for solutions is creative and tireless. FAMILY’s shelters, emergency food pantries, domestic violence services, court advocates, counseling and case management services, hotlines, and child care supports all work together to help people achieve the changes they seek. Family’s services are, with few exceptions, free of charge and confidential.
The John Herald Fund, administered by Family of Woodstock, was established in 2006, in memory of John Herald – musician and longtime friend of Bob Dylan; to help musicians, artists and writers in the community who are in need with seemingly small items—a car repair or emergency prescription—which can make a big difference in someone’s life.
Community based nonprofit organizations like Family of Woodstock rely heavily on fundraising, especially through charity events, for the endowments they administer. The pandemic created major stressors for Family’s staff and volunteers. Event cancellations during the height of the pandemic created a major blow at a particularly challenging time…making this annual fundraising event more important than ever.
All proceeds of this event go to Family of Woodstock and the John HeraldFund.
