photoLife is full of challenges. Having the right skills and work experience can help you move in the direction you want. Anger Management groups help teens deal with frustrations in ways that keep them out of trouble and lead to healthier relationships. Employment workshops teach young people what employers expect and how to write an effective resume. They even get a chance to see what an employment interview is like. FAMILY’s Life Skills Educator works with all of FAMILY’s programs for youth. One on one and in groups, young people learn responsible budget management, healthy eating habits, and how to navigate life successfully as an independent adult.

FAMILY’s Youth Employment Program offers work readiness counseling, mentoring, and work placement opportunities. Case Managers help young people identify ways to advance their education and help them locate employment.

FAMILY creates a variety of opportunities for teens to learn skills they are missing and explore the uses of skills they may already have.  Projects like Teen Cafés help teens develop business plans and channel creativity, ultimately having a successful learning experience that tastes great, too! And FAMILY’s JustConnect hotline and Adolescent Street Outreach Cares (ASOC) are two unique work experience options that FAMILY has developed with teens.  Te ASOC youth team runs a weekly free “Open Mic” for teens, giving a chance for them to share their writing and musical talents. All of these special FAMILY programs give young people opportunities to become comfortable presenting themselves in public while earning money and gaining confidence that they can succeed.
