In January 2019, the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) stated that most recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits would receive their full February benefits early, due to the ongoing partial federal government shutdown. While the long-term impact on SNAP benefits due to the partial federal government shutdown remains unclear, Family of Woodstock, Inc. (Family) is preparing to respond to potential increased needs among visitors of its local food pantries throughout Ulster County. The agency will be hosting a County-wide food drive beginning on January 23rd through February 6th at its four walk-in centers in Woodstock, New Paltz, Ellenville and Kingston.

The following food items are being collected to expand the offerings available at the agency’s pantries:
-Peanut butter Canned soup or packages of soup mix
-Canned vegetables -Canned fruit (in juice or light syrup)
-Canned chicken/fish/meat -Canned beef stew
-Low sodium canned products -Ensure or Boost
-Beans -Pasta / macaroni and cheese
-Rice -Shelf-stable milk
-Jelly -Cooking oil
-Granola bars -Cereal

Food donations must be sealed, within the sell-by date, and without dents or other damage. Donations may be dropped off at the following locations:

· Family of Ellenville- 221 Canal St., Ellenville

Hours: Mon. and Wed. 9:00 am – 6:00 pm; Tues., Thurs., Fri., 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

· Family of New Paltz- 51 N. Chestnut St., New Paltz

Hours: Mon. – Fri., 10:00 am – 4:30 pm

· Family Woodstock- 16 Rock City Rd., Woodstock

Walk-in Hours: 7 days a week, 9:15 am – 9:45 pm

· Family of Kingston- 39 John St., Kingston

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

In addition to food items, each of the locations will accept donations of personal care and hygiene products, including: toilet paper; laundry detergent; shampoo; deodorant; toothpaste; toothbrushes; mouthwash; feminine products; and larger disposable diapers.
