Family of Woodstock, Inc’s Independent Living and Youth Employment Programs are designed to address the myriad problems faced by the youth of today. We use compassion, experience, and hard work to address problems of mental and physical health, education, self empowerment, employment and independence with each youth that comes our way.
Independent Living Program (ILP)
Created in 1989 in collaboration with the Department of Social Services, this program is designed to help youth in foster care 14 – 21 years of age to gain the skills and knowledge needed to leave foster care and move on to independent living as productive adults. Youth in the program work with a case worker to set and attain goals in the areas of education, employment, vocational training, discharge planning and life skills building.
Youth Employment Program (YEP)
Since 2000 the Youth Employment Program at Family of Woodstock, Inc. in conjunction with the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training (OET), has been helping youth who qualify to get their GED, some vocational training, paid work experience and career development. We work with youth aged 16 – 21 who are out of school and are looking for career development. The overall goal of YEP is to assist youth along the path of becoming self-empowered adults able to survive in the working world.
